About us

Philology, literature, linguistics and the Digital Humanities come together to revitalise methods of research, teaching and the dissemination of knowledge.

In our department, we study the relationship between writing, texts and language, analysing their historical, cultural and linguistic aspects.

This is a fascinating field of study, seeking to understand how languages, texts and forms of communication have developed over time and how they continue to evolve in the present day.

We are a cultural project that has grown stronger over time and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration: thanks to the contribution of new technologies and an interdisciplinary approach, we experiment with original research methodologies integrated across disciplines, innovative teaching practices and new dissemination strategies: it is thanks to this approach that our department has been designated a Project of Excellence for the second three-year period (2018–2022 and 2023–2027), facilitating the creation and consolidation of our research activities within the Department’s Digital Library.

Digital Library Conceived and developed as part of the Project of Excellence, the Digital Library is the digital library of the Department of Classical and Italian Philology.

Thanks to the collaboration between the ADLab scanning laboratory, the /DH.arc Research Centre and the ‘Ezio Raimondi’ Humanities Library, the Digital Library manages, promotes and makes accessible the documentary heritage held in some of the University’s main Libraries.
